My topic for the Personal Essay is....

I have come to the conclusion that my topic will be about the time my friend gave me a charm bracelet as a gift. The day she gave me that bracelet is a day I will always remember because what she said to me about why she wanted me to have it always will make me smile and I also love talking about how I received it.
When I start writing this essay, the questions that I want answered is why I this memory I have always comes up in my mind and also why it makes me feel better about myself and being helpful to others. I cannot wait to start writing this essay and also learning more about myself as a writer.

Artifacts

Writing is so simple and easy to do. It is not something that you really think about until you break down and see how writing is so important in our everyday lives.
Doing the artifacts assignment for class, I saw how much writing I did for just one day and also how many different types of roles I play. Also, looking at some of my artifacts that I brought to class, the way I wrote down some things were different.
One example of this, were the notes I left for myself as reminders for things that were coming up. "4 E.H, read CH. 19 and STUDY FOR QUIZ!!", E.H stands for European History and how I need to read a chapter in the book and study for an upcoming quiz. If someone looked at that note for the first time I think that only thing they would have understood was I need to study for a quiz. Little mental notes like these are always burned in my memory and help me so that I won't get swamped with a lot of homework. All my notes are color-coated and are used for things from classes to meetings with committees. If I did not keep notes like these, I don't know what I would do. Writing notes like these show how my role as a student is important to me and keeping everything together will help me keep my grades up and be a student who is focused.
Another example is my the resume I completed for the OSA and Frog Camp Facilitator applications. Since these positions are hard-working and professional I knew my resume had to be too. On it , it has my name, home address and phone number, and also my e-mail so that they could contact me. I wrote down what schools I attended and where I am going to school now, what activities I was in during my high school career, awards I have received, work and volunteer experiences and also references and recommendations. It was a lot of work but in the end, the way it was layed out and put together it showed the side of me that is very professional when I know something I am writing down will be critiqued by people who are trying to decide if I will be good employee and very dedicated toward whatever I do.
Finally, I believe that texting to my family and friends is the one artifact that shows how I am as a person. When I text, I am very goofy and so open to those who I know. "O, mi GOD, mi dae wuz soo long n borin', I wish u wuz here gurl so we can go out n hav fun 2nite." When I text I don't spell the words out or correctly and I just express myself to my loved because I know they will listen. I wrote that text to my cousin who going to college up in Lubbock and I miss her so much. When we do get in contact with each other, we literally text for two hours and then actually talk on the phone twice as long.
Putting together some of those artifacts made me see how writing helps me express how feel, show how I am as a person and also how determined and studious I can be. Writing can be interpreted in many different ways and all those ways can affect us different ways in our lives.

January 18 Prompt

I believe that can learn to write because it is not just about putting things on paper, writing like you see in everday life can tell stories, inspire someone you know and also inspire you in many ways. Believing in yourself will always help you in whatever you do in the future.
In Chapter one of our book it there was one place that really made me think about how I was writing. That part was when the author said "don't use common sense" and just write what you know kind of took me by surprise. I have never heard anyone tell me that before and it was also the truth. Stressing about what you are going to write makes writing not fun letting go and just being yourself makes the process more exciting. For me, using webs, diaphragms, and pros and cons just made writing more confusing to me and also really boring. I am very interested about how my writing will turn once I get more in depth of what the book teaches and how it is different from what I learn for most of my life.
In my opinion, I believe writing can be a long drawn out process for most people because we don't see how important things are once we put it on paper. On the other hand, what we believe in and speak passionately about was what we rely on to make a point, but really writing can also make a point too we just have to find the one issue we believe we want to be voiced out.
Writing seems like the most simplest routine we do in our daily lives but really it is a connection we have in ourselves, friends, family anything else that shows that are heard and even maybe giving the point we try so hard to make.

All About Me!!

Hello Ms. Patrick and my fellow classmantes!
My is Amber Harris and I am a freshman at TCU. My majoring in Musical Theatre and minoring in journalism. I am very excited about doing the writing assignments for class and also getting to know the other students. I am planning to be a more confident and strong writer and not be afraid to put my thoughts on paper. Writing in my life now I just write down the necessities what needs to be done in my daily life like in planner or on post-its and calendars so that I will not forget what I need to do or what is going on next week and such which makes me happy about being punctual and being on top of things that I need to get done.
If could write all the time I would write about the memories I have in my life that I cherish like families, friends and life and how much that means and how maybe that can mean to other people. I believe that my favorite pieces writing are always editorials in magazines and any kind of writing that is in a magazine cause besides my favorite books I read those most of the time. I really do not dislike any type of writing because it comes from the mind of the author and what the author writes is as important as whatever we write which has meaning as well.
I absolutely love writing short stories because in a way it gives you freedom as writer and you can use your imagination and not hold back whatever is in your mind and making up a whole new world is the most fun to me. I believe everyone around me, that goes for who I know who I don't know contribute to what I put in to my writing because in a way we are all characters waiting to be put in a story because we are all unique in our own way.
When I do write a paper the only strategy I really use is to write like your telling a story to a friend but in a professional way and not just writing words on paper. I learned that strategy my sophomore year when I was on the newspaper staff and I have used that one strategy ever since because none of the others like brainstorming and pros and cons haven't really helped as much.
I love write about people because so many ideas come out one person by just getting know and how interesting that person is how much that have will change your life after meeting them.
I believe writing can become diffucult when you have to follow a standard or just write about facts which really makes it hard for becasue I don't know if I am writing the facts down write to where my paper is meaning and understandable, everything else to me is easy to write about because I get that freedom to be me.
Writing will always be important to me becauseI use it to remember so many different things and also to put down my thoughts and ideas which become really useful to me in the future.
As a writer I would love to bring my imagination and ideas when I write about serious issues because I can't really put two together and then my writing isn't at its full potential. My strengths are being creative and loving to write something I am passionate about but weakness is not bringing those strenghts to something I am not really interested in writing in.
If I do come up a subject I am not interested, I hope the techniques that I will learn in this course will help me put my negative thoughts aside and write a very positive and amazing story.
I agree to all the terms that were mentioned in the syllabus and I can't wait to start writing stories this semester.
